Kenpo:
The art of kenpo focuses on self-defense. PSD teaches a particular system of kenpo called Tracy’s Kenpo (www.tracyskarate.com) which has been franchised successfully since the 1970’s and is today represented by schools all over Canada and the United States. Tracy’s Kenpo offers effective self-defense skills through a set curriculum. You will learn how to deal with virtually any conceivable attack with techniques designed to work regardless of your size and strength in comparison to that of your attacker’s. The entire art has been recorded in written manuals, picture manuals and on video which customers can purchase and use for improving their home studies. Students learn kenpo through kenpo/kickboxing group classes and private instruction.
Muay Thai / Kickboxing:
Muay Thai Kickboxing appeals greatly to both the exercise enthusiast whose goal is to get in fantastic shape doing something fun and exciting and also people interested in the competitive side of martial arts. The classes are fast paced and cardio intensive and tend to be more engaging than a trip to the gym. Those interested in competition in anything from controlled contact to full contact sparring competition can learn the skills necessary to succeed at a high level and start bringing home the gold medals.
Tai Chi:
Tai Chi is an art that focuses on health benefits rather than self defense. Practitioners enjoy stress relief, improved circulation, better balance, improved muscle tone and a workout for the mind as they learn this form of moving meditation. It is comprised of 108 movements performed in sequence at a slow easy pace. Because it is not as physically intensive as our other programs, Tai Chi is appropriate for people of all fitness levels. It is taught in a private lesson setting thus you will learn the entire form more efficiently and quickly than could be taught in a group setting.
Submission Wrestling/Freestyle grappling :
Grappling refers to the area of fighting that occurs at close range that involves wrestling maneuvers rather than striking. This includes methods of taking people to the ground, controlling them while on the ground, knowing how to avoid being controlled on the ground and submitting them through chokes, joint locks and pressure point attacks. Though grappling is a necessary component of a complete self defence system, you can also study grappling for the sportive aspect as well. Grappling has grown meteorically in popularity in the last two decades and PSD has grown to accommodate the trend. PSD is an official school of the "All Japan Joint Technique Federation" and is also an official member school of Hidetaka Aso's S.A.W - (Submission Arts Wrestling).
You should know that as a member you can choose to focus on any single style or learn a combination of them all. All styles taught are done so in a professional and safe manner.
